snapshots from our April and also Jason Bateman

It’s only April 21st and we’ve had such fun already!

Let’s see, we’ve had Easter selfies, ice skating, preschool spring concert (where she chose to sit on my lap rather than sing), Mexican restaurants on birthdays, sleepovers, multiple Braves games, chalk drawings, Auburn Alumni dinner, and too many Target runs to count.

Oh, and there was that one time where I saw Jason Bateman.  So, here’s how THAT happened:

The filming location for Ozark is about 10 minutes from our house. Their Set Up Stop (for lack of another term and also because I don’t actually KNOW about movie lingo) is a mile from our house.  As I was sitting in traffic at the 4 way stop (traffic due to the filming/cast/crew that was buzzing around) after coming back from soccer, I look over at the Set Up Spot and see You Know Who just standing there between the RVs and trailers.  And I said to myself.  “Self?  You are NOT going to let this moment pass you by.”  So?  I whipped my car into the parking lot and pulled up to one of the trailers (not one where he was standing).  There was a guy there:

Me:  *hops out of car* Can I just get a quick picture with Jason Bateman?

Him: You can’t ask me.  I only bring the guy water and stuff.  Ask that guy.

Me: *to THAT guy* Hi!  Can I grab a quick picture with Jason Bateman?

That Guy: You didn’t see me and I didn’t see you, but right now he’s sitting in that black SUV over there.

Me:  Tootles!

I grab Josie out of the car.  Because I will look LESS crazy if I have a toddler on my hip.

*OH S*** HERE COMES A LOONEY TOON!!!*  vs  *Oh, a lady with a dirty-faced toddler is walking in my general direction*

As I approach the car, he looks up from his phone and opens the door.

HE OPENED THE DOOR.

I smiled and said, “Excuse me, but are you James Cooper from Little House on the Prairie?”

(because only TRUE fans know that he started out on Little House.  And I LOVE me some Little House.)

He laughed and got out of the car.

HE LAUGHED AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR.

He said, “Well, yes I am!”

I asked if I could take a picture with him because “my husband will literally not believe this”.

He said “of course!”.

And that was it.  I said my 7 thank yous, he got back in the car and drove away.  Just like that.

Long live Pa Ingalls and James Cooper.

The end.
